Silent Souls (Овсянки in Russian)

When Miron's beloved wife Tanya passes away, he asks his best friend Aist to help him bid farewell to her according to the rituals of the Merja culture. Together with two caged birds, the men set out on a road trip thousands of miles across the boundless land. But as they reach the banks of the sacred Lake Nero where they will forever part with the body, he realizes he wasn't the only one in love with Tanya. The recipient of a 12-minute standing ovation at the 67th Venice Film Festival, Silent Souls is a beautifully shot tale of love and loss.
